Ferretti Salvage and Recycling began serving the Eastern and Midwest region in 2021. Founded by Timothy Ferretti, Ferretti S&R is a SDVOSB that provides Safety and Environmental consulting and training for government, commercial, and industrial clientele in regards to Decommissioning equipment, Industrial demolition, Hazardous material cleanup, Automotive recycling, and Alternative fuel/ electric vehicles. We exclusively work by contract and appointment.

Our Team

Timothy Ferretti

Tim is the Safety Manager for multiple companies throughout Illinois in the Scrap metal and Automotive recycling industries. A former Marine with Hazmat and electronics training Tim transitioned to the scrap and auto recycling safety field in 2010. Throughout his career Tim has been developing safe procedures for, and training salvage yards on, how to dismantle Propane, Hybrid, Electric, CNG, and LNG vehicles as each new model is released. After expanding into the industrial demolition industry Tim was trained and certified as a HAZWOPER Supervisor then HazMat Tech. 

Tim has most recently began instructing HazMat level classes as a Subject mater expert in the AFV/EV/HEV systems.

Joshua Hucker

Josh is currently coming up on his eighteenth year as the Plans Examiner/Multi-Jurisdictional Life Safety Inspector, and Special Events Coordinator at The City of Lake Forest. Currently, Josh is on the BESS Ad-Hoc Committee for the 2024 IFC.  He worked for 11 Years in the Fire Prevention Bureau on the Black shift and in the building department the other days giving a “paper to end user” perspective of the built environment. He performed as the lead reviewer and inspector on a ground-up hospital, reviewed and inspected in-house, as well as many other significant projects.   Previously He worked for 12 years in Fire alarm, Security, CCTV Security camera, Access control, and Data networking installation and field design. 6 years Lead service technician 6 years Lead crew manager. He spent 11 years as a volunteer firefighter with Knollwood Fire Dept. He also was the Vice President of Knollwood Fire Dept. Association Corporation for a two-year term.

John Sabia

John is an experienced Division Chief with a demonstrated history of working in the public safety industry. Skilled in Emergency Management, Confined Space Rescue, Fire Management, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). John is a strong protective services professional with a Master's degree focused in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University. Currently an Associate Professor of Fire Science at Seminole State College of Florida

Chris Bednarek

Chris is the Deputy Fire Chief of the South Chicago Heights Fire Dept., where he has been since 2021 following a 20-year career with the Chicago Heights Fire Dept.  Chris is also the Fire Certification Specialist Supervisor for the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal's Division of Personnel Standards & Education.  During his nearly 30 year fire service career, Chris has worked as a Paid-On-Call firefighter, contract firefighter/paramedic, company officer, and training officer.  Chris also spent several years as a rescue specialist and safety officer with Illinois Task Force 1, the state's Urban Search & Rescue team.​

Chris has served as an instructor for various academies throughout the north-central region of Illinois, most notably with the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI), where he has worked primarily in the rope, confined space, and vehicle & machinery rescue programs.  Chris is a member of the SouthSide F.O.O.L.S. in Chicago and has served on the F.O.O.L.S. International Executive Board since 2015.
